Four redesign options for Maps & Stats

Static HTML mockups. Mock data uses real CD-014 / 2024 General. Goal: pick a direction, then implement on a real branch.

Option D

Staged Breadcrumb

Stage 1: pick district + vintage → see district stats. Stage 2: pick election → results layer on top. Vintage is deliberate. Election picker filtered to "in or for this district".

Cost: Medium (~10d)
Best for: District-first analyst workflow

Option B

Story Panel

Auto-pick the meaningful contest on load. Four answer-cards in a fixed grid. Accordion behind a [change] modal. Click timeline to switch elections.

Cost: ~12d, 4 slices
Best for: Auto-answer (less staged than D)

Option A

Inspector on Map

Map fills the page. Slide-out inspector replaces all panels and the mode bar. Pin a second inspector to compare.

Cost: Large rewrite
Best for: Map-first power use

Option C

Two-pane reduction

Keep the existing card layout but force into 2 columns + single viewport height. Replace accordion with search. Smallest delta.

Cost: ~5d
Best for: Lowest-risk incremental

Note

These are static visual mockups, not functional. Clicks within each option don't do anything. The goal is to compare layouts, density, and the feel of each direction.
